So farewell hope, and with hope farewell fear,
Farewell remorse; all good to me is lost.
Evil, be thou my good.
--John Milton. Paradise Lost iv.108
i hate class debates. it wasnt so bad with 4o i think, i hated it then cause i knew i was thrashed flat by everyone. i hate it now when people suddenly blossom with pseudo-intelligence. and start contradicting themselves, then promptly claim they didnt contradict themselves, then surreptitiously edit their previous definition and no one can fault them cause they dont even have a script hahaha.
it was on capital punishment. whether to abolish it or not. now i remember (vaguely) doing tons of crap on this in one of linayong's lessons. and blah blah blah hearing all those random points spewing from people brought it up again. initially, i was trying to sleep. but it got too noisy. and well. so i first took an active role by criticizing people's grammar (is that allowed? cause one person phrased her sentence pretty wierdly...and somewhat warped her initial stand), gave my excellent POI (that was so totally lame, i intended it to be like one of those strange movie scenarios) about "Regarding the point on whether life sentence without parole is harsher than execution...how are you so sure that upon your death, you wont be tried at a Higher Court of Law, one that supercedes any authority or admin. laid down by that of Man?" theoratically, my point's totally invalid. then ppl instead of laughing start rebutting. sigh. and doing a poor one at that.
please, like i told mdm damo. why are we having lame debates when people dont even know how to write topic sentences and cant even string together a proper gp essay? and then they start attaining pseudo-intel levels and promptly start stirring up a storm. with lame arguments. bah.
maybe its just me. but i particularly have a bone to pick with people who dont conform for the sake of not conforming. or being cool or whatever. ok yes we all hate the PAP. that seems to be the general consensus. then plenty of anti-govt sentiment and crap like "the minister/speaker/lame guy didnt answer my qn!!!" seems to be the most popular post-q&a session comment. oh man. shut up. and people just have to speak out of turn to make a point (i do that too...but i only do that to make a point to people who speak out of turn in the first place) are particularly irksome.
bah. and whats it with people who cant seem to copy fast enough?
and stupid students who keep challenging teachers for the sake of nothing?
AND PEOPLE WHO DONT EVEN RESPOND IN CLASS? AND TALK. AND TALK. DESPITE WARNINGS?
i mean, what kind of freaking environment is this? ok fine, its fine with me if you want to ostracize people in the class, its fine with me if you leave me to answer all the qns, its fine with me if there is a stigma somewhere, its totally fine with me if you want to talk in class. just stop disturbing me.
strange how my classmates only do so for econs and lit, but not for gp. and whats worse, the teachers seem to be totally biased now. towards me i think. even when im actually discussing about subject matter (esp. for lit...and im whispering as opposed to chattering around me) im seen as CAUSING DISTURBANCE and told to shut up.
oh boy. troubles compound.
God knows, even angels fall
bittersweet. memories. thats the name of some bigshot elf's sword i think.
i want cheesecake. i remember that time seiya, sab and i went totally crazy at The Coffee Bean and bought all the cheesecakes available at one shot, Green Tea, Chicago, Buster's Weekly, Raspberry and Triple Decker. yumm.
then again, now that i'm actually managing to keep my weight down, i should refrain.
let me end off on a nice sweet note. by telling you a joke by my teacher Mr Issac "Monster" Lim. (he put this in the latest TAF Club pamphlet):
Why am i so not fair? (in response to queries on how come TAF club members cannot eat Yong Tau Foo and must go low on carbs)
Cause im always out in the sun (which he usually is)
haha. sweet water and light laughter.
PS. felt pretty good now all that ranting is out.
PPS. bittersweet memories indeed. found some random word.doc that was titled Vellupillai Prabhakaran Pirapaharan and nothing in it in my SS2004 folder. dunno how it got there haha.
